Zolpidem can be prescribed to make a person diagnosed with insomnia to go to sleep and wake up refreshed, while in most cases people suffering from this disorder often wake up in the middle of the night and are unable to go back to sleep. Take this drug as prescribed by your health care provider. Generally you are not recommended to take it soon after you have had a meal or together with a meal as it may slow down the absorption. Certain health conditions – such as liver disease, kidney disease, sleep apnea, lung disease, alcohol or drug addiction, or a history of psychological disorder may prevent you from taking this drug or your doctor will recommend a dose adjustment. Do not take more of this medicine as it can cause lightheadedness, fainting, sleepiness confusion and coma. Do not combine this drug with any other medicines without your doctor’s knowledge as otherwise a lethal outcome is possible.
